While Replica TAG Heuer is a brand renowned for its embrace of new and modern technologies, it’s only in recent years that solar-powered timepieces have become a part of its catalog. The debut of the first Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph took place at Watches & Wonders 2022, and since then, the series has expanded to encompass several stainless steel models and even a version crafted entirely from titanium. Now, as part of its latest releases unveiled at LVMH Watch Week 2024, TAG Heuer introduces a 34mm iteration of its solar-powered sports watch, marking the debut of the new midsize TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph series in five distinct configurations.
In terms of aesthetics, the new 34mm Replica TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph watches largely align with the modern lineup, although the 34mm case size itself is a fresh addition to the collection. Notably, the unidirectional rotating timing bezel maintains the fundamental shape found in other current-production Aquaracer models but with a slightly bolder and more ornate appearance, featuring predominantly polished surfaces and raised trapezoid-shaped tabs between the ten-minute markers. Unlike the flat octagonal bezel of the rest of the modern Aquaracer Professional 200 lineup, the bezel of the 34mm Solargraph models possesses a more pronounced presence, reminiscent of older styles of Aquaracer bezels used by TAG Heuer a couple of decades ago.
Crafted from stainless steel with linear brushed surfaces and high-polished bevels along their lugs, the five new 34mm Replica TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph watches boast redesigned lug shapes to complement their compact case size, resulting in a lug-to-lug profile of just 40.6mm. These midsize Aquaracer Solargraph models measure 34mm in diameter by 9.7mm thick, featuring flat sapphire crystals with double anti-reflective treatment and solid screwed casebacks for water resistance up to 200 meters. At the 3 o’clock position, large screw-down crowns are secured between two guards.
Among the five models, the ref. WBP1311.BA0005 stands out as the most traditional, featuring a deep blue sunray dial with signature polar blue/turquoise accents. On the other hand, the ref. WBP1315.BA0005 leans into the Solargraph’s signature color with a dial entirely in polar blue/turquoise with an iridescent finish. The remaining three models all sport mother-of-pearl dials, differing only in the quantity of diamonds adorning them. The ref. WBP1312.BA0005 features a standard mother-of-pearl dial without diamonds, while the ref. WBP1313.BA0005 boasts diamond-set hour markers. Lastly, the ref. WBP1314.BA0005 (not pictured) represents the top-tier model with both a diamond-set dial and additional diamonds on the bezel between its raised sections.
Like most replica watches, the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph lineup incorporates solar panels beneath the dials, requiring semi-transparent dials to allow light penetration. To ensure the dials maintain their lustrous appearance while permitting sufficient light to power the watch, TAG Heuer meticulously constructs the mother-of-pearl dials of the new 34mm Solargraph models without a solid metal backing, utilizing just the right thickness of mother-of-pearl material.
